Have I Seen It Before?: No Thoughts Before Viewing: This is one I've been intrigued by every since I've heard about it.  I'm always fascinated to see a European director take on Americana.  This one seems really unique. Running Time: 113 minutes Directed By: Michelangelo Antonioni Written By: Michelangelo Antonioni Primary Cast: Mark Frechette, Daria Halprin, Paul Fix Summary: Two strangers begin a romance at Zabriskie Point, the lowest point in the United States.  One is an undergraduate dreamer and the other is a hippie. My Thoughts: Wow I thought this was absolutely fantastic.  A forgotten American classic for sure.  It's one of those films that people either love or hate.  I love it.  I won't deny that it's inconsistent at times but its fantastic atmosphere and in depth study of late 60s culture are all way too good. Diamond Primary Cast: Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, Fred MacMurcurry Summary: A man tries to rise in his company by letting its executives use his apartment for trysts, but complications and a romance of his own ensue. My Thoughts: This is one of the most perfect films I've ever seen.  I absolutely adore it.  Just one of the most heartfelt and genuine films out there.  I'd always loved it but this viewing particularly struck a chord.  It hits in emotions that remind me of how I feel while listening to The Beach Boy's Pet Sounds (1966).  Being a pretty turbulent and naive personality, CC Baxter is a character I find easy to identify with.  Jack Lemmon is just the best.  It's impossible to not completely feel for him here.  Shirley MacLaine is absolutely adorable as well. Have I Seen It Before?: Yes Thoughts Before Viewing: One of my all time favorites that I haven't seen in years.  Remarkably ahead of its time.  The first serial killer film (and one of the best). Running Time: 99 minutes Directed By: Fritz Lang Written By: Thea Von Harbou, Fritz Lang Primary Cast: Peter Lorre, Ellen Widmann, Inge Landgut Summary: When the police in a German city are unable to catch a child murderer, other criminals join in on the manhunt. My Thoughts: I haven't the faintest idea how something this dark, challenging and bold was made in 1931.  It really hasn't dated at all; it seems so modern.  Unbelievably ahead of its time.  This is, of course, a pioneer in the crime/thriller genre.  It reminds me an awful lot of films like The Silence Of The Lambs (1991) and Zodiac (2007) and really doesn't even seem dated next to them.
